It is good to see a local home store choosing to support local arts. Perhaps it will catch on. So go to Hoods, Foley if you want to see some original paintings, and when you're done shopping, keep going to downtown Foley and get a pizza Portabellas, where all the art is also by yours truly.
And if you want to crab or the octopus you'd better get them quick, there were originally two crabs and two octopus, but the first two sold within a day of being finished, the octopus sold at first friday, and the crab lived at the Frame Corner in Daphne for just under 24 hours before it found an owner.
It was a good run, but the booth at Windmill Market wasn't doing quite well enough to keep it up. But I'll keep painting there occasionally, and maybe someday I'll try it again. Until then, I'l exploring consignment opportunities. You can find my art in Village Peddler in Fairhope, The Frame Corner in Daphne, Hood's in Foley, at at the Market in the Square, Mobile. There are also paintings of mine hanging in Papa's Pizza Fairhope and Portabella's in Foley.
It's hard work getting my stuff out there, and even harder making enough good work to place in all of these locations. But every week things get a little better. What's next? I'm thinking Gulf Shored and Mobile Galleries. Then we work our way down the coast. This is the tricky part where we're not making quite enough to quit the day job, but we have to anyway to make time to paint.
Last month was a success. I have a good feeling that this month will be even better. Come out and see all the artists at art walk. And don't forget to look at all the great art in the local shops and restaurants.
